We tested early access to Voin

Access, Early, I can, launch, pc, Steam, tested, Voin

There are games that know how to get you high. As action fans, there's nothing we love more than a good combat system that leaves little breathing space and feels satisfying. Add in a loot reward, the dopamine is already there and you are totally hooked. Today we come to tell you about our first impressions, in preview, after playing I CANreleased last December 10 in early access on PC.

With the intention of spending a year early accessthe game was created (and will continue to improve through community contributions) by a single creator, a fact I find commendable. The game already has all the main bases laid and has a lot of content. Yes indeed, If you are one of those who enjoy speedrunning or “asaco”, you may be somewhat disappointed by the short duration of this activity..

Voin Preview: Very intense gameplay

In terms of gameplay, we are faced with a First-person hack-and-slash with touches of roguelike and shooter-looter. What we will mainly do is, from a first person perspective, annihilate the enemies that stand in our way with swords. Simple but addictive gameplay, to which more and more layers are added little by little. While not a very deep game, I think what I've played so far is enough to know that there's something more underneath that layer of hack and slash.

After the first zone, which acts as a prologue, the game propels us into the world and offers us 2 locations open world. To unlock the second one, you must first defeat the boss of the first one and find a magic scroll that unlocks the portal to the new location.

We will have some sort of central hub in which collect the loot obtained and improve our character. We will also have a sort of crafting altar where we can combine items and improve weapons with different items found. Of course, I think it's somewhat questionable that we have to navigate a few platforms to get to this crafting altar… I think it would be easier if we had it much closer to us.

Replayability accessible to all

Before entering any of these worlds, you will set the playable challenge (which will help with replayability), since you can customize 3 aspects of enemies which you will find when starting the “run”. We can increase or decrease the resistance level (the life of enemies), their number and, finally, the magnitude of enemies (their size, wow).
We particularly appreciated his movements in combat and their speed and intensity. He brings a dynamism to combat that will always make you want more. In addition, the worlds are quite well designed so you don't get lost but can explore freely.

Perhaps what we found the least work on was, in addition to the possible short duration of contentthe variety of enemies. Obviously we are facing early access and all this will improve and increase, but for now it seems somewhat lacking in this sense. Where I think there needs to be a lot of improvement is in the design of the central hub. As the hours go by, it gets a little tiring having to navigate so much empty space to get to things that in other games you have right next to you. It's not a question of comfort. It's about not breaking the rhythm of a game which is supposed to be that dopamine boost that I spoke to you about at the beginning.

As for the technical and audiovisual sectionthe game is quite neat even if it is not without some bugs. Of course, his artistic conception really struck me. At the start of the game, the title offers you the choice between a “modern” or “retro” design. But I have to say that even in modern design it looks very retro. We understand that the author wants to imbue that vintage flavor or that special design, but I must confess that the difference between one way and another, in my eyes, has been minor.

Conclusions

As conclusionsalthough there is still a lot of work to be done, I CAN leaves us with good feelingsespecially because of his frenzied fights. Although some technical errors and somewhat poor contentthe game has very solid foundations to, little by little, add more content and improve what has been proposed, which is already very striking from the start. Hack-n-slash fans should be very careful in the future.
