Blown by the wind is the new roguelike developed by Twin Movementcreators of Dead cellswhich will be available in early access from October 24. Additionally, players will be able to test a demo of the first biome from October 14 to 21, then maintain progress for launch on the 24th.
As in other roguelikes, the central idea is simple: advance as much as possible in each game while improving your character and repeating the process. What separates good games from good ones is how addictive and satisfying that same cycle is, and we can already tell you that it’s done very, very well here. Motion Twin demonstrates its experience
Windblown and its fluid gameplay
Blown by the wind inherit this smooth gameplay of Dead cellsin addition to a equally addictive progression system. The game quickly immerses you in its mechanics. In addition, we have an isometric view and a very curious visual style, as well as unique playable details, such as the combination of weapons and attacks, the cooperative mode for three players and the crystallization mechanic, which is used to kill enemies when weakened.
Enemies drop cryptic keepsakes, which you’ll need to unlock in future games, while hidden items are scattered across the map, along with trinkets and gifts as power-ups. You will level up thanks to the equipment you collect from enemies.
If only we were able to explore two biomes in this preview version, when released from early access there will be five in total. The decor is very neat and the soundtrack accompanies it perfectly. The first biome features relaxing lo-fi music, while the second takes on a more active electronic style, both seamlessly integrated into the game’s world.
Some problems to solve
It goes without saying, but as early as it is, the game has some issues and is somewhat lacking in content. The user interface still needs some tweaking to make it clearer, sometimes you can get a little lost.
Another point concerns the enemies which, although they are well designed and there is nothing wrong with them, it is true that there is little variety and they can feel somewhat repetitive, which can hamper the experience in this type of game.
In short…
Blown by the wind It stands out as a title that aims high and is on the right track. The cotton test for a roguelike is how many cycles you go through without realizing it, and Blown by the wind fills with shovels. With a balanced challenge and addictive mechanics, it shows its intentions. Although it is still in development, it already shows huge potential and promises to provide many hours of fun.
