We have worked very hard on this baby for many years with a small team of passionate experts in the immersive sim genre. For Executive Producer Julien and I, our passion started with being fans of Last 7th and Ultima Underworld When we were kids; The im mersion and simulation values we experienced back then as fascinated children have stayed with us to this day and have forged our drive ever since.
I founded Arkane Studios in 1999. Julien joined me shortly after and was a key member behind it Arx fatalis, Dark Messiahall the way to dishonored. Strange West is our first attempt at an immersive top-down simulation. It’s a genre that hasn’t been tried too much, as immersive sims traditionally take place in the first person perspective, but we think the values translate well to the top-down perspective and it brings that pleasantly nostalgic Ultima vibe with itself that takes us back to our childhood.
Because that’s ultimately why we make the games we make; We want to pass on to the new generations what we received as children: the gift of immersion. A world where players allow themselves to be who they want, emotionally engaging with the characters they meet and the places they explore.
