One more year, we are approaching one of the moments marked in red on any player’s calendar: the Game Awards. Popularly known as the Oscars of Video Games, the gala has grown in importance and popularity in recent years, not least because beyond the awards, it has become the final stage of the year in which the companies advertise their titles.
A growing trend that has allowed us, for example, to see the first look of Xbox Series X and Hellblade II at the 2019 gala or the first project of The Initiative, Perfect Dark, on the show. Other big titles of recent years have been announced at TGAs, such as Devolver Digital’s Loop Hero in 2020, The Calisto Protocol, Back 4 Blood, Dragon Age 4 or Mass Effect 4 are just a few examples of games announced in recent years. .
Therefore, it’s no surprise that as we approach each year’s gala, a constant buzz of rumors begins about what we’ll see or what surprises lie ahead. It is true that Microsoft is taking the cake after two stellar appearances and the gossip about what we might see has already started as we told you a few days ago in this house. However, their presence is usually still a mystery and nothing is revealed, surprising even Geoff Keighley himself as happened with the Xbox Series X.
So in Generation Xbox we wonder what we could see on December 9, 2021, already 10 in Europe when the show starts at 2 am.
Microsoft’s double presence: Hellblade and an ace up its sleeve
It might be a risky bet and aim very high, but it doesn’t seem unreasonable to think of a double serving by Microsoft. Every day it seems clearer that Hellblade II will be in the series and that’s almost a safe bet. Unsurprisingly, the sequel to the game Ninja Theory premiered on that same show in 2019 and since then we’ve hardly heard from it again. So what better time than to teach it again than where it all began?
Additionally, we believe Xbox will have another surprise in store for us in an unannounced game format. That is, we will not see anything new among the titles that have already been presented in recent years. With one exception: Starfield and its debut gameplay would be quite a hit. However, we believe the option of a brand new announcement is firmer. While the Gears 6 option is very tempting, we don’t think this is the framework chosen by the company to show the novelty of The Coalittion. However, Wolfenstein iii if that would be our bet. A few days ago we told you that new clues had appeared that MachineGames would be with two projects at the same time, so it would not be unreasonable to see it announced at the gala.
The Another trump card up its sleeve would be Confessed and Inxile’s new RPG. For the premiere if it’s true that we got to see it in more depth, even more after the last words of Jeff Grubb, who said that Obsidian was wondering why Microsoft told him to teach The Outer Worlds 2 instead. of Confessed. For the second, it’s Project Cobalt, this mysterious steampunk RPG that could be developed in Unreal Engine 5.
New Dragon Age 4 trailer
Our next bet is also pulling a newspaper library. Dragon Age 4 was first announced at the 2019 Game Awards, with a trailer in which little was seen about this new adventure. The following year, Bioware showed us a first look at the game as well as a first look at Mass Effect 4, although he later confirmed that its development would be post-Dragon Age.
Add to this that EA’s intention was or still is to launch Dragon Age 4 in 2022, it wouldn’t be uncommon to see a new trailer for the game, with parts of the gameplay, at the gala. . There isn’t a better storyline, without a doubt, and they would satisfy the legion of franchise fans who wanted to hear more about the title at EA Play 21 this year.
The Last Night comes to life at the Game Awards
One of the big missing in recent years has been The Last Night. The title that surprised us at Microsoft’s E3 2018 vanished without a trace in the months following its announcement and we were only certain that it was still in development. Now, two years later, the title would come back through the front door.
The main reason is that the game’s creator posted a trailer for the game which he deleted a few minutes later, right after Geoff Keighley’s tweet that advanced a world premiere that they had been working on for two and a half years. Coincidence?
The new Bioshock will become reality
One of the favorite and favorite sagas of many gamers was the one created by Ken Levine and 2K. Bioshock has marked a before and after in the industry and since the launch of Inifinite in 2013, we have not had any new releases. On the flip side, we know a new episode is on the way and we’re hoping to see it at the Game Awards. It promises to be bigger than all the previous ones and to take us to discover two unique cities, as we told you a few days ago.
Ken Levine’s new one will also be at TGA
And speaking of Bioshock and its creator, we hope to see the new Ken Levine in the series. We don’t know what he’s up to, but good ol ‘Ken still has a trump card up his sleeve and a crazy idea to incorporate into his games. That if, knowing their games, we can expect a story that explores sociological and philosophical questions.
These are our best bets on what we believe or hope to see at the Game Awards. Of course, this is nothing more than our opinion and our hopes and there is nothing official, at least as of this writing. What we have for sure, confirmed by Geoff Keighley himself, is that over half of the gala will be focused on announcements and new game reveals and in total we will have over 40 games. A significant figure that allows us to clearly see the importance and relevance of the awards of recent years.
