“We will have much more to share later this year”

In December it was announced that Jason Ronald, vice president of Xbox, will participate in a panel discussion on portable consoles based on PC architecture during CES 2025. Well, that event has already happened, although nothing major was revealed about Xbox specifically. In fact, the most interesting thing for Xbox fans happened after the event, when Ronald spoke with The Verge about his team's desire to incorporate consoles' “innovations.” on Windows portable devices to make navigation less complicated.

Ronald says that later, in 2025, we will have more news about this, but the main thing is that Xbox wants Windows PC owners to feel much more comfortable with their systemwith the aim of providing a “premium gaming experience”.

Here are some quotes from the interview:

“We've spent the last 20 years creating a world-class operating system, but it's very tied to the console. What we're doing is focusing on how to bring these experiences, both for gamers and developers, to the broader Windows ecosystem.

“Our goal is to put the player and its library at the center of the experience, not all the Windows work you need to do today.”

As you probably know, Xbox has already indicated plans to create a handheld device at some point, but Ronald didn't elaborate on that during the conference.. For now, it appears the focus is solely on existing Windows portable devices.

This is no surprise since the boss of Xbox, Phil Spencer recently mentioned that his team wanted to be “up to date with what's happening in the market right now.”. In other words, it seems like they want to work closely with current (and future) devices on the market before committing to an official device.

It's also worth noting that Ronald wasn't just referring to Windows portable devices during the interview, but to Windows as a whole, suggesting PC users could also benefit from console 'innovations' this year.
