200 Mpx vs 12.5 Mpx, we compare the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra to itself

When the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra started leaking, many of us were surprised at how similar it looked to the S22 Ultra. At least on the outside. When we analyzed it, we realized there were more differences than we thought, from the processor to the new 200MP camera.

We had the opportunity to test this device longer than usual and we wanted to make a small comparison… with itself.

We took the same photos with 12.5 Mpx, the ones it takes by default, and with 200 Mpx, the maximum given by its main sensor.

The advantages of filming in 12.5 Mpx

Mobile phones use pixel binning for many reasons, among which shooting speed stands out. This is essential when we take a lot of photos, because if the mobile does not respond immediately, we risk losing the photo.

Shooting with 12.5 Mpx gives us that speed shot, something we don’t have in the case of 200 Mpx, since the sensor has to process a lot more information.

In addition, the images occupy much less space. At 12.5 Mpx we have photos between 3 and 4 MB, but at 200 Mpx we normally go between 20 and 35 MB.

Another advantage of shooting at 12.5 MP is the entry into action of the HDR, which allows to have images with more details and information, which does not burn certain parts or overexpose others.
