Apple Intelligence is one of the new features in iOS 18, but we'll see plenty of other cool new features on the iPhone soon
The latest iOS 18 updates have focused on Apple Intelligence, but Many more features are about to reach all iPhones. While it's true that Apple Intelligence will continue to be important and is expected to launch in more countries and languages with iOS 18.4, there are other exciting new features that are worth your time.
Change the default Maps and Translator apps
Apple already allows you to change many of the iPhone's default apps since the latest iOS 18 updates. Here are the currently available options:
- Installing apps: You can choose the default app store. This setting is only available in Europe, where alternative stores to the App Store are allowed.
- E-mail: Set another email app, such as Gmail or Outlook, to use instead of Mail.
- Messaging: You can now change the default app for texting, as long as it is supported.
- Calls: Allows you to use external apps to make calls, which was not previously allowed on iOS.
- Call screening: Select an application to identify and filter calls from this setting.
- Navigation app: Set another default browser, such as Chrome, instead of Safari.
- Passwords and codes: Use external apps, like 1Password, to manage passwords.
- Contactless application: Allows you to use third-party NFC payment apps instead of Wallet.
- Keyboards: Change the default keyboard directly from this menu.
In future updates, Apple will also allow you to modify two other types of apps: default app for maps and default app for translation. Apple Maps and the Apple Translate app are currently used, which may be replaced by other third-party options.
Integrated robot vacuum cleaners
A function promised during the presentation of iOS 18 and which will finally arrive with iOS 18.3. Cleaning robots compatible with the material can be integrate into the iPhone Home applicationwhich will allow you to control them using Siri or create automations, like activating cleaning when there are no family members at home.

The iOS 18 Calculator app has been completely renewed and with the next update, will include a new feature. Well, instead it will bring back an old feature that for some reason disappeared with iOS 18.
With iOS 18.3, Apple has recovered the function of repeated operationswhich had disappeared with iOS 18. This feature allows you to automatically repeat the last operation performed by pressing the equals button, such as successively dividing a number. It is a useful shortcut that Apple has decided to reintroduce, improving the experience for those who have used it.

we will have many new features arriving in iOS 18 in the coming weeks. The operating system still has a lot of development, since Apple will not present iOS 19 until June 2025 and it will not be released until September. Our iPhone will improve a lot with these updates.
