7 novelties of the iPhone 15 with which the Nothing Phone 2 will have to deal

deal, iPhone, novelties, phone

I wouldn’t be here if I preferred using Android over iOS, but I highly respect what they accomplished on Nothing. They managed to go beyond being just another manufacturer and create their own brand image, well differentiated, not thanks to Android but despite Android. And so I am very attentive to this Nothing Phone (2) which will be presented on July 11.

This phone has reached (or so I think) a place to fight in the mid-range market compared to the upcoming iPhone 15 whose price is already expected to increase even more. If we look at the strengths of Nothing, the iPhone 15 will have seven clear directions with which it will go head-on towards this Nothing Phone (2).

A launch worthy of the greatest

The points with the most friction between the impending Nothing Phone (2) and the iPhone 15 are, in my opinion, the following:

  • Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 versus A17 chip. Nothing will jump in power by equipping this Qualcomm chip, but Apple is also ready to surprise us with an A17 chip that jumps from 5 to 3nm. Raw power is one thing, but another very different thing is the efficiency it can give.
  • The iPhone should carry the photographic lens larger than Apple has ever used on its phone, taking them up to 48 MP in quality. The Nothing Phone claims 50MP, but beware: history has clearly shown that you can’t judge a camera solely by the number of pixels it can squeeze out of its photos.
  • This efficiency can also leave another mark: the iPhone 15 Pro and the Nothing Phone can have a very similar battery of approx. 4800 mAh rumored, but the efficiency of the iPhone can make those mAh absurd and achieve more autonomy by consuming less energy. Although everything will depend on the use that we will give to the phone, of course.

Services layer, iOS 17 and iPhone efficiency are going to be the main differences

  • Perhaps the weakest point of the iPhone 15 is the price. The Nothing Phone (2) should cost significantly more than its predecessor, which did not reach 500 dollars. The cheapest iPhone 15 won’t go below $1,000 and will even approach $1,100. Many buyers don’t have that money, and we all know that the pocket is ultimately the boss.
  • screen of the Nothing Phone (2) will be 6.55 inches if there are no surprises. Big for what the iPhone 15 is going to be, but not compared to the over 6.7 inches that the iPhone 15 Pro is going to have. The market has already made it clear that hardly anyone wants small mobiles.
  • We must not leave behind toilet. Yes, we can install Apple Music and Apple TV+ on the Nothing Phone (2), but having an iPhone means having a wider layer of services (starting with health services) that Nothing still can’t boast of.
  • I’ll save the most obvious for last: Android versus iOS. Nothing accomplished much but Android is still Android. iOS 17 is proof that Apple has been very successful in maturing its mobile operating system, both in terms of performance and user privacy. It’s the final rapier Cupertino will always have against any competing terminal.

Apple counterattacks Nothing and will launch its own transparent headphones: here are the new Beats Studio Buds+

Next week we will clear up doubts about Nothing Phone (2), even if the iPhone 15 will not be presented until September. It would be unfair to make sales comparisons because the size of Nothing and that of Apple because the size of companies has nothing to dobut I’m very interested to see how Nothing’s growth rate compares to what they achieved with their first phone.
