A rollable iPhone? Apple has already patented it

Apple, iPhone, patented, Rollable

Apple is already considering a future iPhone style!

iPhone files patent based on use of drop-down/roll-up screen in device

The United States Patent and Trademark Office recently published another patent application attached to the Cupertino company, which relates to the possible using a drop-down/roll-up screen in a device. Apple’s invention concerns an electronic device that can be square or rectangular and has a rollable screen. That is, from this device, a thin screen unfolds which is unrolled for viewing and rolled up again for storage.

Rollable/Scrollable iPhone Patent in Device

The mechanism works as follows: when the screen is rolled out, it becomes a flat window, and when rolled up, it folds back onto a roller that rotates around an axis. Then you can pick up the device and easily move it wherever you want. For example, you can take your TV on a trip to the countryside and watch your favorite movies in excellent resolution.

The Apple team behind this new proposal wants to take care of every detail so that it can really be useful in the market. Having said that, the display may have a display panel with a pixel array that produces high quality images. Also a protective layer comprising a transparent polymer and covering the pixel matrix, and this protective layer may contain a thin layer of glass to facilitate bending when the lamination process begins.

When using the device, the surface of the screen that faces the outside of the protective layer would be exposed to objects that may cause scratcheswhile the inward facing surface of the transparent protective layer can be protected and therefore have fewer surface irregularities.

Following the same Apple recommendations, to avoid cracking the glass layer, the screen can be configured so that its outward-facing surface receives compressive stresses. This stress on the glass surface can protect and help prevent scratches on the outward-facing screen from causing cracks or other damage when the screen is bent during rolling operations.

variable mechanism

In the version of the deployment framework maintained by Apple, there are two types of mechanisms: one is the screen fully rollable and flexible over its entire surfaceand the second is partially rollable screenwhich has flexible edges but other parts can be fixed so that the surface remains in a flat state.

While we may see a foldable iPhone first before a rollable model, this isn’t the first time the company has filed a patent for the product. You have already done this with documents related to “Electronic devices with extendable sliding screens”.
