Heart rate, noise levels and even our sleep. The Apple Watch becomes a watchdog of our health based on the measurement of our constants, the detection of trends and the recommendation of exercise. And now a study may have found another possible measure.
It’s not something that Apple pursued directly, but the University of Waterloo figured out how the Apple Watch might be able to detect stress
It’s not the heart rate: it’s the way that heart rate changes
The study suggests that the data obtained by the electrocardiogram of the most modern Apple Watch can be used together with the results of the questionnaires that the study participants filled out every three hours. The results were analyzed by a machine learning algorithm (machine learning
Taking into account the gender and age of users to avoid failures, the study concludes that Apple would not have to do too much extra work (all things considered) to be able to offer accurate measurements of our stress levels
At this time, there are no rumors about the next Apple Watch, beyond its possible design changes or any hints there are about non-invasive blood sugar detection. But stress is something that is taken into account a lot at the moment, so being able to measure it with the Apple Watch would be a nice touch.
