Many of us would surely like to work in the technical team of I fix it. They spend the day taking apart and analyzing the inside of any electronic device that appears on the market, no matter how much it costs.
Today it was the turn of two models of “in ear” headphones. New Apple AirPods 3 and Beats Fit Pro. They have dismantled, (rather destroyed) and published a video comparing the two destructions.
The guys at iFixit are never bored. They always have a device to take apart and see its interior. In the video they showed us today, we can see how they measured the hand of some AirPod 3 and those Beats Fit Pro, thus comparing the disassembly of the two models of helmets.
In this video you can see the whole process of disassembling the two models. Considering the small size of the device, they literally had to break them in order to be able to see inside. They even needed to use pliers to be able to apply enough pressure to break up the adhesive seal using a pin on the two plastic halves. A wreck, come on.
The video in question lasts six minutes. There you can see how the iFixit team opens the two Apple headphones and shows us how they are inside. Given their small size, both devices feature a bundle of components that includes delicate cables, chips, sensors, and the battery for each unit.
You can’t change the battery without breaking them
In both cases, they had access to the battery, for a possible change, but caused a Irreparable damage in both models. Neither AirPods nor Beats Fit Pro are designed to reattach when opened.
So seeing what was seen, iFixit gave the third generation AirPods and Beats Fit Pro a zero out of 10 on its repairability scale. The battery cannot be changed. You have to break the plastic case of the helmet to access it, so you can forget about a hypothetical battery change when it starts to fail. Pity.
