By default, Siri is the virtual assistant that Apple integrates into all of its products and services, including the iPhone, iPad or Mac among others. This wizard is quite complete, it is synchronized with the entire ecosystem, and it is the one that can perform the most actions given that it has access to all the operating systems of the company. However, Today, there are other alternatives to the assistant in the App Store, like Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa., which can already be used almost as much as Siri.
In this sense, Amazon has decided to go further. Users of Echo speakers and other home automation devices from the company are generally used to Alexa’s voice, and for this very reason launched a new widget for iOS with which you can more easily access the virtual assistant whenever you need it.
Alexa launches new iPhone widget: Amazon wants you to forget Siri
As we mentioned, the Amazon Alexa app for iOS has recently been updated, and the main novelty is that it now includes a new widget to be able to access the virtual assistant much faster. This way, you won’t even have to find the app on your mobile to be able to ask a question.
In this case, the new widgets of the Alexa app adapt to the formats introduced with iOS 14, managing to integrate something more into the system. However, they are just a small button with the text “Ask Alexa” which, when pressed, allows you to speak with said advisor, with no added functions.
In this way, Amazon’s intentions are pretty clear: they want users to focus a lot more on their ecosystem even if they have Apple products. And it is that at present, Alexa on iPhone is not as powerful as Siri due to the limitations of the operating system, but the truth is that its integration with other Amazon products and services is still very interesting for many users.
