Apple Intelligence, Apple’s AI, will not be compatible with all iPhones, iPads and Macs on the market
Apple stylishly introduced Apple Intelligence at its WWDC24, an AI fully integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. However, Not all devices that can run these operating systems will be able to use Apple Intelligence. Apple’s AI will only be available in the most powerful ones.
What features does Apple Intelligence offer?
Apple Intelligence provides many features on supported devices. The Apple’s AI arrives in style, seamlessly integrated into operating systems to make it really useful for users. Here are its main functions:
- Write with smart tools: Apple Intelligence powers new writing tools, helping you find the right words virtually anywhere you write. With enhanced language capabilities, you can summarize an entire lecture in seconds or summarize a long conversation.
- Prioritize notifications: Apple Intelligence is able to read your notifications and prioritize them, all in private, it can even summarize them if they are too long.
- Priority messages in Mail– Urgent messages will appear at the top of your inbox, like an invitation with a deadline today or a reminder to check in for your flight this afternoon.
- Images created by you– Create fun and original images in seconds with Image Playground right in your apps. Create a brand new image based on a description, suggested concepts, and even a person from your Photos library.
- Genmoji: You can create a completely custom emoji with a short description, which you can edit as you wish.
- Image wand– Turn your sketch into a companion image in the Notes app. Use your finger or Apple Pencil to draw a circle around your sketch and Image Wand will analyze the surrounding content to produce a complementary image.
- A personalized film– Create a personalized memory movie right in Photos by simply entering a description, Apple Intelligence will find the best photos and videos that match what you asked for.
- To clean– Apple Intelligence identifies background objects so you can remove them with a single tap and perfect your photos.
- Siri: Siri now knows the device and what’s happening on the screen better, is able to understand the language better, knows you better and updates itself accordingly, even within different apps.
- ChatGPT integrated: OpenAI’s ChatGPT is being integrated into Siri and Apple Intelligence writing tools, as it will help improve certain queries, including questions about photos or documents.
iPhone compatible with Apple Intelligence
Apple has announced that only the iPhone 15 Pro with its A17 Pro chip will be able to use Apple Intelligence, although all four iPhone 16 models will also be compatible:

- iPhone 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 16
- iPhone 16 Plus
- iPhone 16 Pro
- iPhone 16 Pro Max
Mac compatible with Apple Intelligence
None of the Macs with an Intel chip will be able to run Apple Intelligence, only Macs with an Apple Silicon chip will be able to do so. Here’s the full list:

iPad compatible with Apple Intelligence
As with Macs, only iPads with an M-series processor will be compatible with Apple Intelligence. Here’s the full list:

- iPad Pro M1
- iPad Air M2
- iPad Air M1
Devices without Apple Intelligence support
While Apple Intelligence is built into Apple’s operating systems and is a fundamental part of Siri, some Apple devices won’t have the company’s AI, at least for now. These are even devices that are compatible with Siri. At least at launch, Apple Intelligence won’t be compatible with the following devices:
- HomePod
- Apple Watch
- Apple Vision Pro
Apple Intelligence LaunchesIn fact, initially it will only be available in the United States. However, Apple’s AI will evolve over time and will surely reach more devices.
