If you thought WWDC was full of new stuff, you ain’t seen nothing yet. It’s common for Apple to announce several new products each fall and winter, but this year could bring as many as 20 new devices.
That includes four new iPhone 14 models, but also new Macs, new iPads, and maybe even a new HomePod.
According to Mark Gurman of BloombergApple “is about to embark on one of the most ambitious new product periods in its history,” with nearly every product in Apple’s lineup due for upgrades.
That’s all Gurman expects from Apple in the coming months.
iPhone 14
- Possible release: September 2022
As usual, the new iPhone will launch fall announcements. Apple could reintroduce four new models this year, but with one important change: the iPhone mini would disappear in favor of a new non-Pro Max model.
While this is the biggest change for non-Pro models, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max would also get some new features: an always-on display, a new chip, better front and rear cameras, and bezels. finer.
Apple Watch Series 8
- Possible release: September 2022
The Apple Watch Series 8 is expected to arrive in the same 41mm and 44mm sizes as the Series 7, although it may also introduce a third “rugged” model designed for users with more demanding needs.
According to Gurman, the S8 chip expected to arrive with the Apple Watch Series 8 would be largely the same as the S7 chip (which was essentially the same as the S6).
Apple Watch SE
- Possible release: September 2022
The second generation of the Apple Watch SE is said to have the same screen size as the current model, although it will likely incorporate an always-on display, new sensors and a newer processor.
iPad 10th generation
- Possible release: September 2022
Apple’s next cheaper iPad update will bring a bigger screen (10.5″ vs. 10.2″), USB-C and 5G. However, it’s expected to keep the same retro design, including the Home button.
iPadPro
- Possible release: October 2022
The 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro could get an update this fall. They will integrate an M2 processor and possibly also become compatible with wireless charging.
AirPods Pro
- Possible release: October 2022
The long-awaited update to the first-generation AirPods Pro is finally coming this fall with a new stemless design, lossless audio support, and better battery life. The wireless charging case could also have USB-C to replace Lightning.
HomePod
- Possible release: October 2022
Apple also plans to launch a new HomePod, though Gurman warns it might not arrive until 2023.
It would “close to the original HomePod in size and audio performance” with a new screen on top that could bring multi-touch functionality.
AppleTV
- Possible release: September 2022
Gurman says the Apple TV will get a minor update, with a new chip and more RAM. However, there are also rumors of a cheaper model.
Mixed reality headsets
- Possible release: October 2022
A new category of Apple products would arrive this fall, the first in several years to appear: an augmented reality / virtual reality headset.
Gurman says the device will have an M2 chip with 16GB of RAM to go along with two 8K displays.
new macs
- Possible release: September and October 2022
Additionally, Apple will be updating several Macs in the coming months, including Mac minis with M2 and M2 Pro, 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, and a redesigned Mac Pro with M2 Ultra and new M2 fries Extreme.
Gurman says the M2 Macs will likely arrive “in much quicker succession” than the M1 Macs.
