The three Samsung Galaxy S23 presented yesterday arrive with the latest version of Samsung’s personalization layer: A 5.1 user interface. First on the top end, the “minor” cape update will also come to other models later, although the company has yet to confirm exactly which ones or when.

All One UI 5.1 changes
As we mentioned earlier, Samsung showed us during the presentation of the Samsung Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy Book some of the new possibilities of One UI 5.1, the home personalization layer. Th is is a minor update, but still has a lot of news,
Camera
- It’s easier to change the tint when taking a selfie with the effects button on the side of the screen
- Quick access to Expert Raw from the menu Advanced
Gallery
- The gallery app recommends photos to add to the family album using face recognition. You get 5GB of storage for each family member (up to six people).
- Processing automatically removes shadows and highlights to enhance your photos, and GIFs can be recreated with better resolution and clarity.
- If you swipe up on a photo or video in the gallery, you can see where it was taken, on what device, where it’s saved, and more.
- It is possible to search several persons or elements at the same time.
- You can choose where to save screenshots and screen recordings.
AR Zone and AR Emoji
- Up to three AR Emoji at a time
- Brushes for editing AR doodles are available on the main screen for faster access and it is possible to resize the drawings after creating them. A new partial erase tool is also added.
Widgets
- New battery widget

modes and scenarios
- You can choose different wallpapers for home screen and lock screen depending on your current activity.
- Actions can be performed when you turn on airplane mode and hotspot, such as opening apps or adjusting the audio balance.
connectivity
- It is possible to create collaborative notes in Samsung Note, which can be edited by multiple people at the same time.
- You can invite contacts to use shared albums, notes, and calendars in messaging apps.
- It is possible to use the mouse, keyboard and trackpad of a Galaxy Book on a tablet and a Samsung mobile, as well as copy-paste and use drag-and-drop from one device to another.
- You can change the audio output device from the quick access bar.
- It is possible to track browsing session from Samsung Internet on mobile on PC.
Samsung DeX
- Enhanced DeX multitasking: In split-screen mode, you can swipe from the center of the screen to resize both windows, as well as align a window to any of the four corners of the screen.
The settings
- Suggested settings appear at the top of the screen.
Samsung Internet
- Improved search for bookmarks based on their folder name or tab group name.
Setup Wizard
- Faster setup from another Anroid mobile using a QR code to migrate Wi-Fi networks, Samsung or Google accounts.
Time
- More detailed information on the home screen of the weather app.
calls
- Bixby Calls can answer a call to determine the reason for the call and display it to you in a chat window, where you can respond via text (English and Korean only).
Which mobiles will be updated
Of course the The first Samsung phones to receive One UI 5.1 will be the Galaxy S23, but the new version of the layer is not going to stop there. We are still waiting for confirmation from Samsung, but luckily a few days ago the list of possible models that would be updated was leaked. They are:
Previous models are confirmed by Samsung, although this does not mean that the list is exhaustive. One UI 5.1 is expected to hit Samsung’s top end from 2021 and to selected A-series models. We will have to wait to confirm which ones.
