Apple released its new iPad 10 on October 18. He is a much-needed overhaul. The previous model had stalled and needed a facelift. Apple delivered in this regard. However, the device has not been without controversy among users.
Some complain that it doesn’t make sense that the Apple Pencil 2 isn’t compatible despite USB-C and you have to use an adapter and cable to pair and charge the Apple Pencil 1. However, the The most common complaint is that of its price, especially in Europe. We have now learned from Mark Gurman in his newsletter that Apple was planning a cheaper plastic model
Could have been, but wasn’t
According to the Bloomberg reporter, Apple would have worked on an iPad whose main material would have been plastic. Moreover, he adds that was going to include a keyboard in the box. There are no details on whether this could have been paired and unpaired from the iPad, or if instead we would have been faced with some sort of Chromebook or Surface Go.
Gurman adds that Cupertino’s idea was to sell this device for under $500. I understand that it would have served as a natural substitute for the iPad (2021), which is still sold on Apple’s site for 429 dollars (355 dollars on Amazon Europe). Anyway, that’s just a guess.
The question for me is whether those in Cupertino are planning a launch to replace this idea that Mark Gurman is talking about. For the moment, it is the iPad 9 which continues to cover this affordable iPad market niche for the education sector, but we don’t know what will happen in a year. Perhaps it is simply discontinued and the iPad, which now sells for 579 dollars, remains the more affordable option.
Personally, I don’t think that’s a good idea. Apple has a big market in the education sector. Many public and private educational institutions depend on the iPad to be more affordable and better than the competition, but at nearly $600 apiece, it will most likely eventually be replaced by a more affordable model from another society.
Anyway, what seems more or less clear is that This device that Gurman is talking about is not going to hit the market.. The question that remains now is whether Apple will look for an alternative to replace the iPad 9 within a year or not. In any case, the iPad (2021) is still a good alternative today for those who want an iPad without spending a lot of money.
