It’s something that has become a tradition a few months before the launch of the new iPhone images and renderings, and the next step is the so-called “dummy”. These are 3D printed mockups that follow the blueprints that Apple was able to share with the accessory makers of its new iPhone, and we already have here the first iPhone 13 mockup with a smaller notch.
A few days ago, we told you that Apple had finally decided reduce iPhone 13 notch, and we know it thanks to a few leaked images of the front panel of the new models.
And now Macotakara, a known Japanese blog with good information, shared images and videos of what it claims to be “a mockup of the iPhone 13 Pro dummy player.”
Regarding the iPhone 13 Pro, we have already heard several more than interesting rumors, especially focusing on the new colors and the improvement of the rear cameras. And now this mockup shows us up close how could the new iPhone 13 notch be.
A smaller notch that resists fading
The notch, at least for now, would still be on the iPhone due to Face ID. Apple failed to hide its facial recognition system
With the iPhone 13, to reduce the size of the notch, Apple will move the speaker to the upper part of the frame to allow play in the notch. In other words, Face ID sensors will continue to occupy the same space.
The iPhone 13’s “ dummy ” Macotakara it is probably based on leakage patterns from sources in the supply chain. Media reports that the notch is practically the same height, but much narrower. The The iPhone 13 Pro’s notch supposedly measures 26.8mm compared to 34.83mm on the iPhone 12 Pro, which means an 8mm cutout.
If you measure the iPhone 12 Pro current speaker length, and iPhones of recent years, measures exactly 8 mm, it is therefore clearly the space that Apple has achieved by repositioning it.
On top of that, Macotakara He says the front camera will change position, now it is in the right area of the notch and on the iPhone 13 it will go in the left area.
For the time being these are just rumors, although last year Macotakara He also showed off several iPhone 12 mockups that were quite accurate. We’ll see if the same happens with this iPhone 13 ‘dummy’.
