Android 13 went through two developer previews and four betas before reaching its final release, but the final is never quite final. The The Android 13 beta program continues after a small break of a few weeks, and those who wish can continue to receive future versions before everyone else.
The difference is that instead of trying out the next big operating system update, beta program users will try out what’s new in quarterly android updates
Don’t Stop Betas
Betas do not end with the release of the official version. With the release of Android 13, the path of the previous six versions ends, but the beta program is still active and, in fact, betas will begin to reach program users unless they unsubscribe sooner. It’s not new, Google did the same with Android 12.
The difference is that users will receive versions quarterly Android updates beta, or QPR for its acronyms in English (Quarterly platform publications). In reality, these QPRs end up reaching users in the form of Feature Drops or news collections that reach Google Pixel users first and, perhaps, the rest later.
On the official Android Beta community on reddit, Google announced that Android 13 QPR betas will resume in September, to get feedback on feature removals, fixes, and stability improvements before releasing the information to everyone. Those enrolled in the Android beta program will begin receiving these updates next month.
What if you prefer to stay with stable Android 13? Next you can leave the beta program without factory resetting the mobile, but only for a limited time. You’ll need to do this after installing the stable version of Android 13 and before receiving the first QPR beta in September. Similarly, users who participate in QPR betas will have to wait until December to “repent” and exit the program without losing all mobile data.
