Google published a new beta version of Android 14, preparing what will be the next release of a major operating system update, which will reach the Pixels first. The latest beta fixes a number of bugs in the system, but also includes a pleasant surprise.
And the Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3 version includes a pop-up window, or “pop-up”, that appears when you press the button to turn Bluetooth on or off in the quick settings panel. This window allows you to quickly access Bluetooth device configuration options. And the most interesting thing is that this is not a new function, Google had removed it from the operating system.
A function that disappeared in Android 9 returns
Operating systems evolve over time, leaving behind the most obsolete functions and features or those that currently no longer have any real use for users, and incorporating Features and interface improvements for modern needs. This is true across all systems and software, and is why Google often eliminates or changes features from its mobile operating system.
However, it is rare for Google to decide bring back a function that had disappeared formerly. This pop-up window for quick access to Bluetooth functions has disappeared from the operating system in version Android 9 “Pie” from 2018 (back when Android still used dessert names), but now it’s back.
Michael Rahmanspecialist in the Android operating system, was the first to share this “new feature” in the latest beta version of Android 14. Its operation is really simple: by accessing the quick settings panel (by swiping your finger twice from the top of the screen to the bottom), then press the Bluetooth button, now A window will appear that will not only enable or disable Bluetooth but will also display the connected devices and adds quick access to connection settings with these devices.
Of course, The interface of this popup has evolved and it no longer looks the same as it did in the Android 8 “Oreo” days, instead adopting Android 14’s modern Material You design style.
This feature can save us precious seconds by not having to explore the settings menu until we find the connected devices section, With just one touch we can synchronize new devices via Bluetooth or change the settings of connected devices. The feature is expected to arrive in the next Android update for Pixel devices, but if you want to try this and other new features, you can sign up for the Android beta program now.
