The son of Los AirPods one of Apple’s most successful products. They were launched in 2016 and today it is hard to go out and not see at least one person using them in one of its versions: AirPods 3, second generation AirPods Pro or AirPods Max.
Those in Cupertino are always looking for ways to improve these devices. After all, due to battery life issues, AirPods usually don’t last more than three years without needing a change. It is precisely for this reason that Apple usually launches a new generation in the same time frame. Moreover, a new patent shows us what the future might bring us
Because not all environments are the same
Apple has filed US patent 20230104111 A1 in which it explains that each user listens to music with their AirPods in a different place. Some do it in the car, others in the field, in the classroom, at home or at the beach. However, until now AirPods played content evenly, regardless of this external factor.
This patent deals with precisely that. How AirPods Could Adapt Their Sound Not Just To What You’re Listening To, if not where do you do it. The patent goes further, and explains that the human being is able to know in which environment he is heard exclusively by using sound patterns, those of Cupertino want us to be able to do the same with AirPods.
It seems that this aims, in a way, to naturalize listening to music through headphones. In the same way that a song doesn’t sound the same when playing it with a HomePod in a living room as it does in a bathroom, I understand Apple wanting to mess with that. If there was somehow an option that would adapt these sound patterns to the room or environment the subject is in, it might even make the subject think that listening to music without AirPods
This is something that sounds interesting. It might even be sold as a “Transparency Plus” or another of those explosive names Cupertino loves. In any case, of course, it is a technology that can give a lot to say, and that we could get our hands on very soon, although as always it is good to remember that Apple patents hundreds of ideas per day, and only a few are part of a product.
