During the last WWDC 21, Apple introduced a new version of Swift Playgrounds. Version 4 has arrived with some important new features, especially the one that allows you to create complete apps from an iPad and even download them directly from the App Store. Now Apple has started inviting developers to test the app and from 9to5mac they’ve made some pictures of what it will be.
An app to create apps, on our iPad
Swift Playgrounds 4 represents a major shift in what we need to start developing. The application was initially offered as a learning medium, but it will now allow us to directly create applications. Shortly after completing the development of this new version Apple invites some developers through TestFlight.
The app thus prepares its official arrival. Although this first beta is protected by a confidentiality agreement
The different app projects are saved in its library, which is located in iCloud Drive, so the content is automatically synced with our Mac. projects created with Swift Playgrounds 4 are compatible with Xcode
It is clear that Apple intends to promote and facilitate the creation of simpler applications. Now, with Swift Playgrounds 4, we will no longer need a Mac, a free app on our iPad and we can now download our creations from the App Store. Certainly an important step forward in spreading a clear idea that Steve Jobs has repeatedly commented on: everyone should learn to program.
