Apple 2022 iPad 10.9 inch
- Filter: the OnePlus Pad bets on a screen with unconventional aspect ratio, 7:5, having a shape closer to that of a book and which allows easier reading, while being more comfortable during touch gestures. It measures 11.61 inches at 144Hz and is 88% screen real estate, with very thin bezels. It supports Dolby Vision. The iPad (2022) screen measures 10.9 inches at 60Hz, a low refresh rate for a tablet of its price.
- Processor: Apple integrates its A14 Bionic chip in the iPad 10; It’s not the newest, far from it, but it offers good performance both when navigating the operating system and when using apps and games. The OnePlus Pad doesn’t use any Snapdragon from Qualcomm, but MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000, which is very powerful and intended for high-end devices from 2022.
- RAM and storage: the OnePlus Pad comes with Ultra-fast 8GB LPDDR5 memory and 128 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. The 10th generation iPad has 4 GB of RAM and storage options of 64 or 256 GB.
- cameras: Cameras have always been one of the hot topics for tablets (except for those from Apple, which were way ahead), and we found one 13MP rear with 4K video recording in OnePlus, although the front remains at 8 MP, and it is most interesting on tablets because it is used more frequently. The iPad 10 mounts both rear and front 12 MP and they are of good quality.
- Battery: Apple promises that your iPad 10 can last up to 10 hours per charge. OnePlus claims its Pad can play videos non-stop for 12.4 hours. It all depends on how you use the device.
- Operating system: The 10th generation iPad uses iPadOS 16, as usual for company tablets. The OnePlus Pad features Android 13 and the OxygenOS 13.1 customization layer, with an interface that takes advantage of screen size.
- connectivity– The two tablets are pretty much the same on this point, with WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 or 5.3 and USB-C. The iPad offers a higher version with 5G connectivity so as not to depend on WiFi networks.
- Others: The iPad 10 is even better with accessories, and it is compatible with the Apple Pencil 1st generation and the Magic Keyboard Folio with keyboard and trackpad. The OnePlus Pad also has its own accessories, and the stylus and case with keyboard and trackpad are very similar to Apple’s.
- Price: the OnePlus Pad can be purchased on the official store for 499 dollars. The 10th generation iPad has an RRP that starts at 579 dollars.
iPad 10 VS OnePlus Pad, which tablet to buy?
Apple has decided to keep the 9th generation iPad in its catalog as the cheapest option and to add the iPad 10 as a slightly more vitaminized version, but which stay in no man’s land. It works well, it will be supported by software updates for years, and a lot of custom apps are available in the app store.
But it is a tablet with many but. The quality of the screen leaves a lot to be desired for its price and the refresh rate is limited to 60 Hz. It does not include Apple’s most powerful processor, nor a newer one (the iPad mini, launched months ago has the A15 Bionic ), and yes it is compatible with the Apple Pencil, but the 1st generation.
Although how many updates it will receive is unknown, the OnePlus Pad is a more attractive tablet than the iPad 10 on paper. Already only its 144 Hz screen compatible with Dolby Vision is worth it, and has an aspect ratio similar to Apple’s tablet (both are more square than wide). And if you plan to use it for work, it has its own accessories to get the most out of it.
