Apple's latest acquisition the startup focuses on artificial intelligence and how to apply it to images developing them in real time. Spectral Edge was acquired by Apple recently, according to Bloomberg. One more step to improve mobile photography on Apple phones.

It is not yet known what it was the amount put in by Apple to take the startup. It is also unclear whether they will include all equipment, only part of it or their patents. In fact, the news is not confirmed by Apple or Spectral Edge. Currently the company's official website is closed.

Better photos in poor light conditions

Spectral Edge was launched in 2014 following a series of investigations performed at the University of East Anglia. With its algorithm the images taken on a mobile phone improve in real-time, especially when photos are taken at night or in low light. This would be interesting to see how it works in new night mode for iPhone 11 and above.

s An example of what nighttime mode is capable of doing on the iPhone 11.

How does Spectral Edge do this? In general, night photography is based on the use of a larger display (capturing a photo longer than "instant" and leaving a longer exposure) to allow more light (detail). However, in the case of Spectral Edge what they do is right perform an infrared shot mixed with "normal" shooting to get a sharp picture.

Nightlife photography has completely overtaken Apple's phones this year with the launch of the iPhone 11. Most likely, keep improving over the years including the development of clear, clear and defined photography. Discovery like Spectral Edge will help.
