iOS 17 will have other news that Apple didn’t share at WWDC 23!
The beta version of iOS 17, available since its presentation at WWDC 2023, has begun to give hints of other news that were not announced at the event, but which we can still enjoy with the launch from the official version. One of them concerns the probability that Apple may release a new MagSafe battery and charger for the iPhone.
The information was shared by the beta tester @aaronp613who posted on Twitter a screenshot of the code referencing a battery model number A2781 and a new MagSafe charger model number A3088.
The MagSafe charger will also be renewed
Although the code does not present any other information that would allow us to dig deeper into these supposed new versions of the MagSafe battery and charger, the information is not entirely new. Last year, trusted analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo said the MagSafe battery would be upgraded with a USB-C charging port for the foreseeable future, as well as the iPhone 15 series which would switch to USB-C to replace the current Lightning port.
As for the MagSafe charger, a potential improvement could be Qi2 compatibilitywhich could enable up to 15W charging of non-Apple devices instead of the current 7.5W limit. The first Qi2-certified chargers are expected to launch later this year.
As the company’s most extensive operating system, the iOS 17 update was one of the most anticipated. This new version focused on providing a more personal and intuitive experience, including lock screen improvements, Messages app improvements, new stickers, new AirDrop features, an app called Journal and a way to use the iPhone in a horizontal position and make the most of your screen, among other things.
Regarding its availability, Apple did not share the official release date of iOS 17Although we know that it will be throughout the month of September, just after the presentation of the iPhone 15.
What Apple has revealed is when the iOS 17 beta will be available to install. The iOS 17 developer beta is already available, and the iOS 17 public beta will arrive in July.
Additionally, Apple also introduced iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14 Sonoma and new hardware products such as a MacBook Air, Mac Studio, Mac Pro and introduced the highly anticipated Apple Vision Pro.
