Apple reports that it has halted sales of its products in Russia, so as of last week, sales channels in the country have stopped receiving new products for sale.
Additionally, the company is also removing some apps from its App Store, such as RT News and Sputnik News, as well as disabling live traffic and incident features in Ukraine as a safety measure for citizens.
Apple’s statement emphasizes that “we are deeply concerned about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and with these actions we intend to support humanitarian efforts as well as support our teams living in the region.”
Recall that in the past, Apple made a similar move during the economic crisis in Turkey, paralyzing sales of its products for a while.
Regarding the actions of other technology companies, it should be noted that Google removed Russian state publishers from Google News. More and more companies from different sectors are coming together in support and solidarity with Ukraine.
Others like Nike, Volvo or Jaguar have stopped sending stocks of their shoes or their vehicles to destock the market and exert pressure. Western companies are joining this initiative to push for an end to the war in Ukraine.
