The WebKit developer team has come up with a proposal to improve two-factor authentication security. This suggestion is based on movements that can increase security.
Apple engineers unveiled the process to be followed in this new proposal this week on the GitHub website. The first step of this secure 2-step verification process involves linking the URL of a website that may require SMS verification that the user receives.
The second part of this proposal This is the launch of a 2-step verification program on all web browsing platforms. This way the browsers will be merged into authentication and can instantly see if the URL is unique If so, the browser would directly extract the single-use password and automatically proceed to authentication. In the event that the URL, as we said earlier will be linked to the message, would not be considered positive by the browser, it would be the user's decision to review it to check that it could for example be a phishing attack.

So far, both Apple and Google engineers have approved the new system, while Mozilla has not yet received an answer.
An overall summary of this new approach will be a major improvement in security in two-step verification, integrated with system services will make it faster and more automated. Apple also includes iOS 12 for automatic detection of factor authentication messages at our iPhone terminals, thus allowing the code to be automatically filled up when needed.
