Apple has plans for Siri and these come through changing the traditional phrase “Hey Siri”, a phrase we’ve been using for years.
Apple is working on a major change to how you invoke your voice assistant Siri. For many years we can talk to Siri without having to touch anything, just saying “Hey Siri”, “Hey Siri” in English, the assistant begins to listen to us. However, Mark Gurman reports that Apple is working on a change to this command.
According to the famous journalist BloombergFor the past few months, Apple has had a group of engineers working on how to summon Siri. The scheme is remove the word “Hey” or “Hey” to leave just “Siri”
Apple is working on a project to simplify the wake phrase “Hey Siri” to “Siri”.
Siri will be activated simply by saying “Siri”
Similar to how other assistants, like Alexa, Siri could be activated just by saying its name. Gurman reports that while it may seem like a simple change, it’s quite complex when it comes to AI and engineering work. Having two words makes it easier for the assistant to understand us in multiple languages and accents.
Also keep in mind that removing the “Hey” from “Hey Siri” could speed up consecutive queries. Something in which Siri has always been behind the competition. Although she is surprisingly good at other things.
The company is working on an initiative to remove the “Hey” in the wake phrase so that a user only has to say “Siri,” with a command. While th is may seem like a small change, making the change is a technical challenge that requires a significant amount of AI training and underlying engineering work.
On top of that, Gurman says Apple is working on improving Siri. They say they want Deeper integrate the voice assistant into third-party apps and services and your ability to understand users and make the right decisions will be improved.
The information assures that Apple has been working on it for a few months and that there are employees who already use only the word Siri to invoke the assistant and collect data. Apple’s plan is launch this novelty in the next year or, at the latest, during 2024. Thus, only the Google Assistant would be invoked with two words.
