Apple will change its strategy with the A17 chip to focus on its efficiency

iPhones have been renewed every September for many years. Since September, we have been seeing and reading reports on next iPhone 15 which will be released at the end of this year. A lot of these reports don’t hint at a leafy redesign of the device, but rather optimization of efficiency in line with a price drop on standard models. Other information that arrived a few hours ago confirms that Apple’s intention with the upcoming iPhone 15 A17 chip will be to focus on making the iPhone 15 a more efficient device

and optimize all its functions rather than promoting excessive power.

The A17 chip in the iPhone 15 will perform better than the A16 chip

Apple has already ordered from TSMC the first advanced 3 nanometer chips which apparently should be the A17 chip. These new 3nm technology chips will make it possible to include the same number of transistors in a smaller chip, which would imply a significant increase in the number of operations per second and therefore an increase in data processing power.

The little that could transcend was that request for 3nm chips in the whole world is very high since the advantages they offer are far superior to those of 5nm, that is clear. As TSMC commented to Bloomberg, these new 3nm chips They offer better performance than 5nm with 35% less power.

This means that we would maintain and save battery on iPhone 15 making similar use to the current A16 chip.

However, all that glitters isn’t gold like Apple might. spend that extra battery which is saved with the A17 chip by introducing new sensors or new simultaneous tasks that make it possible to “kill” what has been gained with 3nm technology. So we will be before an A17 chip focused on increasing its efficiency and not so much on the search for maximum power. With this, Apple would have a lot of leeway to be able to design a device related to its interests and objectives.
