Apple will restructure the names of its operating systems. According to Mark Gurman, iOS 19 will be iOS 16
What a bombardment that Mark Gurman has just published via Bloomberg. IOS 19 will be erased, in addition to macos 16, iPados 19, Watchos 12, Tvos 19 and Visionos 3. We do not refer to its content but Apple will make a Restructuring of the names of their operating systems And will go to number 26. Yes, Apple will launch iOS 26 on WWDC 2025. Why number 26?
Apple will surprise us with a renewal of figures in its operating systems
Gurman indicates that this change is A situation of “brand coherence” in addition to being able to move away from a confusing approach to customers and developers “. And it will not only be a change of numbers, those of Cupertino will make a wash of the face of all the platforms in terms of design. What we have seen from iOS 19 will also go to operating systems such as Watchos and Tvos.
Wwdc 2025 just at the corner of the street
Operating systems will be as follows:
- iOS 26 (iOS 19)
- IPados 26 (iPados 19)
- MacOS 26 (MacOS 16)
- TVOS 26 (TVOS 19)
- Watchos 26 (Watchos 12)
- Visionos 26 (Visionos 3)
Apparently, The new figures are linked to the year and this is how they will identify themselves from now. The current numbering does not coincide and will never coincide with the continuation of its course because each operating system began to be listed from birth, with the exception of MacOS which had a longer numbering of Mac Os X Cheetah to MacOS Catalina which started with number 10 and which changed with decimal points, For example, MacOS Catalina is 10.15 until the arrival of MacOS BIG SUR and went to number 11 Even Sequoia MacOS which is MacOS 15.
The number 26 is due to the fact that they will be launched to be the most recentAs if it were a car model. In 2026, iOS 26 will be the latest iPhone system until WWDC 2026, the launch of iOS 27 was carried out. It will not be confirmed how similar they will be in design, if certain radical differences will be noticed or will really follow a single design line.
What will happen to the numbering of certain Apple products?
The iPhone could work with the same fate, although there has been nothing to confirm until now. Another product like Apple Watch would also be at risk in terms of figures. Recall that products such as iPad, Mac and Apple TV are identified by generations. There is not so much inconvenience that on the iPhone which will be number 17 the one presented in September. In the case of the Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Series 11 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3 are the figures that match this year.
Restabber The number of operating systems is a conscious decision that could undoubtedly help Apple customers in the future. For those who have known the ecosystem for some time, it can be easy to identify, although it is not bad to reset and list compared to the year. What do you think of this new Apple decision, do you like iOS 26 instead of iOS 19?
