Bloomberg's Mark Gurman report says that Apple closes one of his most advanced projects: an augmented reality group set that connects to other Apple devices.
It is a look inside the basic ball on some of the product decisions that occur at Apple, but that rumors often, these AR glasses have never been officially announced.
The glasses have been seen in the apple as a natural evolution beyond pro vision. Vision Pro was always going to be a niche device, not only because of its high price (US $ 3,500), but its heavy nature. Even among the VR headsets, it is heavy and requires an attachment to a battery.
AR glasses would look like normal glasses and allow users to browse objectives in the real world, but contain integrated screens that overlap them graphics rendered. Code N107, Apple wanted this device to be lighter and more affordable by attaching them to your iPhone, which would make most of the treatment work.
It didn't really work, apparently. Iphones were limited in their treatment capacity and the use of AR glasses has drained the battery of the iPhone too quickly. Thus, Apple would have changed speed to make them attached to a Mac, which has more robust processors and larger batteries.
Recent prototypes have not been well received, according to Gurman, and it is easy to understand why. If a pro vision is heavy with a wire that goes to a battery in your pocket, how could you expect the users to remain attached to a MacBook? The pro vision needs more Portability, no less.
Gurman says that the Vision Products group is still working on a successor to the professional vision, including updated versions that resemble the original model. But it is not clear if there is another real project of “AR glasses” in Apple or if this road is now closed. Apple previously canceled an N421 named by project code, reports Gurman, who was to be AR glasses carried out on the market about a year after vision pro. The team also works on several of the underlying technologies that would have been used in glasses.
