Apple’s AR glasses enter design validation phase

Apple AR Glasses

A few days ago we told you about a leak that pointed to the name that the operating system of the next augmented and virtual reality glasses from Apple could adopt. It was about realityOS, an iOS extension that would manage all the interface and hardware of these AR glasses that could see the light of day at the end of 2022. Now they are coming information on the development status of these Apple AR glasses. It is possible that the end of the engineering validation stage will be reached and that the design validation tests will soon be accessible. It is expected that it will not be a mass-selling product, so its development may be more prolonged in time since the production will not be massive.

Apple’s augmented reality (AR) glasses are making progress

the engineering validation steps (EVT) It comes after a period of mock-ups and renderings to imagine the product without accessing any prototype. The AR glasses are in the technical validation phase, a stage where few devices are produced with the functionality and design of the final product. There can be as many technical validation steps as the company wants in order to debug the alphas

.

Product development stages

After the technical validation, we move on to the design validation (DVT). This is a stage where the final design is fine-tuned, work begins with the software and the final device interface, the hardware is validated, and the industrial design is calculated for later production. The product is also subjected to resistance tests of all kinds and regulatory approvals of the various characteristics are beginning to be requested.

It seems Apple’s AR glasses could have entered EVT stage 2.

So there are about 100 products being tested to reach the next phase of design validation. With that, except surprise, Apple would move into the production validation phase in a few months and, finally, after the production volume test move to the global market by the end of 2022.

Apple’s goal with AR glasses is to make them small enough to fit inside our everyday glasses. However, in the meantime, they want to enter the market with a larger virtual and augmented reality headset that will allow developers to test realityOS and prepare for the arrival of augmented reality as Apple wants in the coming years.
