Apple presented Tuesday a new application invited to prompt which allows users to create personalized invitations and share them with family and friends as well as photo albums and reading lists. But while the application may have been a surprise, it was not pleasant for everyone.
On X, the manufacturers of the event application partly published a screenshot in section 4.1 (a) of the application examination guidelines, which refer to copies. The section can be read as follows: “Find your own ideas. We know you have them, so come to life yours. Do not just copy the last popular app on the App Store, or make minor changes in the name or user interface of another application and pass it like yours. In addition to risking an intellectual property offense, it makes the App Store more difficult to navigate and is simply not just for your developer colleagues. »»
The screenshot is a barely veiled shot on the concept and the interface somewhat derived from Apple invites. Partial was a finalist in 2024 for Apple's Cultural Impact Prize, so it was clearly on the Cupertino radar. Although there are differences, it is difficult not to see distinct similarities between apple invitations and partial interfaces.
Of course, Apple is no stranger to copy cries. Over the years, the concept of “sherlocking” has become something of an annual tradition, because Apple publishes another application, a service or a feature that makes certain applications autonomous out of words. The term takes its name from the Apple Sherlock 3 application introduced with Mac OS X Jaguar, which almost rendered the non -relevant Watson Watson application with a set of similar features.
In a response to the Parteful position, Marissa Mayer, founder of the Sunshine application and former CEO of Yahoo, sounded with similar claims: “At @Sunshine, we have also taken a look at these directives today Hui. Gen ai invites and sharing of integrated photos, hmm… ”
These accusations are unlikely to import because even the directives of Apple developers do not explicitly prohibit the copy and that iPhone users will gravitate to the application due to its integration with the photos and Apple music. Apple Invite is a free application for the iPhone, but to unlock event creation, you must subscribe to iCloud +, which starts at $ 0.99 per month.
