In a new published internal note for employees, Apple has revealed a slight change we will see in its products this year. Small at first glance, though with great results: Use of random numbers in the company's products. The reason? Avoid fraud and counterfeit products.
In particular, MacRumors reached out, explaining that this change will work with the new products introduced from late 2020
Why use random numbers?
Switching to random serial numbers is not a custom or a desire to confuse users' stuff. But to make things difficult for those who are committed to them fake parts of Apple and all products. Due to the serial numbers these individuals may obtain information about the product owner or may use their internal components and components by copying that serial number.
Scammers have been around for a long time replacing fake iPhone components and other products to later sell original parts and get out of it. This is something that has been partially suspended in recent times due to iOS software validation of internal components, which are linked to a different serial number for each item and product.
With a random number of legal ones it will be very difficult for the miners to know the origin of each product and find out how your serial number works. That is, it is very complicated to make fake phases of an internal or iPhone / iPad together. We'll see "by the end of 2020" what this change will actually be like, with days seeming to be rolling out a new iPhone with the process.
