Demand for bitten apple logo objects makes them part of the the interests of criminals around the world. And although sooner or later the authorities find out, there are always those who decide to keep trying some kind of scam. The most recent case occurred in India, where two subjects attempted to smuggle 80 iPhone 12s.
Although in their plans it seemed the perfect crime, authorities managed to uncover the smuggling of 80 iPhones that tried to enter India and evade taxes required by the devices. The two people involved attempted to smuggle the phones into the country, coming from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
More criminals fall because of the iPhone
Men they intended to enter multiple iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max into the country via checked baggageBut they were ultimately thwarted by officials according to The Indian Express, which spotted suspicious behavior at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad.
After being discovered, the couple attempted to flee the scene but were caught once the iPhones were discovered in bags left near the baggage claim area. Officials confirmed that IPhones “valued at around Rs 1 million” seized.
Finally, officials arrested two passengers who owned the checked baggage and another person involved in the smuggling attempt. Currently, all are under investigation pending conviction for this crime, who at one point considered the best way to get cheaper iPhones.
