As a trainer and seller of Apple products for years, there is a magical moment that keeps coming up where They asked me if it was worth it buy a Mac or not. And many users own an iPhone and only until now have they been enticed to take the plunge. Or, they have had a Mac for a long time but are unaware of some of its key features.
You can't imagine how much this makes your daily life easier, both at work and for personal pleasure. I've been using macOS since 2010, fifteen years now! And moreover, as they are Mac with unbeatable quality – pricethis is without a doubt the best time to move to Mac in all of Apple's history.
Auto Unlock: Your Mac automatically unlocks when you approach it
This is probably one of the most surprising features in my demos. Imagine no need to type your password Every time you sit down in front of the Mac: just bring your Apple Watch closer and it unlocks automatically. It sounds magical, but it's pure technology.
- Go to System Settings on your Mac > Security & Privacy
- Enable “Allow your Apple Watch to unlock your Mac”
- Make sure you use the same Apple ID on both devices
The best thing is that it not only works to unlock your Mac, but also to confirm passwords in apps or allow system changes.

iPhone as a webcam: the professional camera you already had
This feature has revolutionized my clients' video calls. Being able to use the iPhone camera as a Mac webcam not only improves image qualitybut also includes professional effects that will leave you speechless:
- Open any video calling app (FaceTime, Zoom, Teams…)
- Select “iPhone Camera” from the camera options
- Enjoy portrait mode, centered framing and more professional effects

Universal control: one mouse and keyboard to rule them all
This feature always generates a “wow!” » in the demonstrations. The fact that you move the cursor from your Mac to the iPad and can control it with the same mouse and keyboard. No additional configuration, no third-party applications. This is an awesome thing if you have a Mac + iPad and want use it as a “second screen”.
- On your Mac, go to System Settings > Displays > Click the Advanced button at the bottom of the Settings window.
- Enable Allow use of pointer and keyboard on any nearby Mac or iPad
- Once the iPad is unlocked, place it next to the Mac and move the mouse to the edge of the screen. You'll see how it magically moves from Mac to iPad
Transfer: continue where you left off
Started an email on your iPhone but prefer to finish it on your Mac? Handoff allows you to do just that. It is one of the features that bring more productivity to customers who came to the store where I worked, especially most of the managers.
- Make sure you have the same Apple ID on both devices
- Enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
- Find the app icon in the Mac Dock

Universal clipboard: copy here, paste there
This simple but powerful feature always surprises me in my demos. You copy something on the iPhone and paste it directly on the Macor vice versa. No apps, no complications. Just copy and paste as you usually do, only the wallet will be shared between all devices.
AirDrop: Share files instantly
The fastest way to share files between Apple devices. My clients are always surprised by its speed and ease of use. It can transform the productivity of an entire office by saying goodbye to electronic transfer, emails and file uploads to the cloud.
- Enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both devices
- Select the file to share
- Choose the destination device in AirDrop

Internet sharing: your iPhone as a Wi-Fi router
This feature recorded more than one presentation based on customer feedback. When the Wi-Fi network goes down or is not available at all, your iPhone can share its instantly connect to the Internet with your Mac. If they have the same Apple ID, the option to connect to your iPhone will appear on Wi-Fi networks.

Calls and messages from your Mac
Last but not least: being able to manage all your communications from your Mac Receive and make calls, send and receive SMS, all without touching the iPhone:
- On iPhone, go to Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on other devices.
- Also on iPhone, go to Settings > Apps > Messages > SMS Forwarding and enable sending messages to your iPad or Mac.

This way you can talk on the phone from your Mac and even start a call to make a reservation somewhere, talk to someone at work…And the same with SMS to enter these verification codes on the Mac without having to get up and look for the iPhone.
With these nine tips, you will take the productivity of your Apple products to an extraordinary level. Because all devices are as if they were made for each other. But without the how.
