A very common problem in many Spanish homes remains slow Internet connection, and the solution does not always involve switching to a faster line. There is no point having the fastest Internet offer if our router acts as a “bottleneck” and is not able to take advantage of all the bandwidth available to our devices, especially if we have several throughout the house.
New technologies such as WiFi 7 aim to help in these situations. Although new versions of the standard do not have speed as a priority, they are ready to connect a greater number of devices without loss of performance, in addition to Internet of Things devices.
Now ASUS has presented its new range of WiFi 7 routersand they all have in common the ability to take advantage of the potential of the new standard; Not only that, but in some cases, they go further, taking advantage of a new technology that is getting a lot of attention: artificial intelligence.
The world's first AI gaming router is the new ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI, presented at CES 2025. Now we might think that we are facing one of those cases where the word “AI” is used for marketing purposes , as we are already seeing in the technology sector, but these suspicions seem unfounded. And this router is actually capable of running the AI locallyby having an integrated neural processing unit (NPU); therefore, it has both a processor, a microcontroller (MCU) and an NPU, working together to improve local processing capacity.
According to ASUS, the ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI's NPU is used with intelligent software and programmed learning to access new functions that would not be possible with the traditional processor alone; like for example a new AI power saving mode which reduces consumption by up to 46%.
But this is a gaming router, and as such, the features designed for gamers will be the most attractive. In this sense, AI-based game acceleration stands out, with ROG AI Game Booster and Adaptive QoS 2.0 for reduce latency by up to 34%with support for up to 3,000 games. Additionally, this router has features that will improve the experience, including a tracker, ad blocker, and network analytics.

Asus also took advantage of CES to present new models of portable routers designed for mobility. For example, the RT-BE58 Go is a new 4G/5G mobile tethering router capable of create a private hotspot on public WiFibehaving like a traditional router when we plug it in at home. It has dual-band WiFi 7 up to 3600 Mbps and MLO and 4K-QAM technologies. Among the additional functions, VPN with one-time activation stands out.

The ASUS 5G-Go, for its part, is a new mobile router compatible with roaming in up to 232 countriesso that we can take it with us on our trips with the guarantee that we will always have a reliable internet connection. In addition to a WiFi 7 connection, it has a 2.5G Ethernet port and 10 Gbps USB tethering for our computer. Its 6,030 mAh battery will allow us to access the Internet “all day” according to ASUS.
Finally, ASUS introduced new devices in the ZenWiFi Outdoor line, which also make the jump to WiFi 5. The BD5 Outdoor offers dual-band WiFi 7 speeds of up to 5,000 Mbps, with coverage of up to 232 square meters, while the BD4 exterior allows you to reach speeds of up to 3,600 Mbps with coverage of 227 square meters.
