AirPods offers for Black Friday 2024: our advice

Apple's new headphones are the AirPods 4which come in two models, a base AirPods 4 priced at $129/£129 and an upgraded version with active noise cancellation (ANC) priced at $179/£179. Both models are identical with the same sound quality, battery life, and features, other than ANC. So even if you find a good price on the AirPods 2 or AirPods 3, it's probably worth spending more and buying the AirPods 4 instead: they sound and fit much better. Plus, given that the $129/£129 AirPods 4 without ANC offer better features than the AirPods 3 which previously sold for $179/£179, it would be a pretty good deal to choose them over the new earbuds .

Likewise, Apple recently updated the AirPods Max with USB-C for charging, replacing the Lightning port. But they don't have any other new features, so if you find a better deal on the Lightning version, consider that model instead.

Finally, the 2nd generation AirPods Pro hasn't been updated in a few years, but Apple continues to add features to keep them up to date. The latest is Hearing Protection, which offers a clinical-grade hearing test to convert them to an over-the-counter hearing aid.

Apple never discounts AirPods for Black Friday, but does offer gift cards with purchases. In 2024, you can get a $75/£60 gift card when you purchase AirPods Max; a $50/£40 Apple gift card with AirPods Pro 2 and a $25/£20 Apple gift card with AirPods 4.

	2024	2023	2022
AirPods 4	$25	n / A	n / A
AirPods Pro (2nd generation)	$50	$50	$50
AirPods Max	$75	$75	$75

The voucher might not be money back on AirPods, but it's money back towards your next purchase, or savings on all your monthly subscription payments if you credit it to your account. More here: Apple Black Friday 2024: What you need to know about Apple's sale.

Because the AirPods 4 are so new, we're not seeing big savings from other retailers, so the $25 deal is decent. A $50 voucher with the AirPods Pro and $75 with the AirPods Max aren't bad either, but other retailers are selling them for less, at least while supplies last.
