Reddit is one of my favorite pages, I go there and participate several times a day. Although the desktop version is very comfortable, sometimes, I need to access from my mobile when I am away from home. The most logical thing would be to use the official app, but that never convinced me because Infinity works a thousand times better.
If you are looking for an app to read and comment on Reddit, try this free app. we tell you all about Infinity for Reddit.
My window on Reddit is infinite
It couldn’t have had a better name, and that’s that Infinity offers endless options. Although this is obvious, the truth is that the application is nimble and fluid, displaying information in a clear manner.
Flexibility is one of its most outstanding points since offers a high level of customization. It allows you to modify the design in depth: how the feed is displayed, your subscriptions, the theme player, it has a light and dark mode, among many other options.
As soon as we open Infinity for Reddit, we will notice that it follows Google’s design language, Material You. As always happens to me, I like that the applications I install on my mobile respect the general style of the system, giving me a feeling of coherence.
But this is only the beginning, this application does not only live on the design but it is very complete, without being confused at any time. Let’s take a closer look at what we’re talking about.
A tour of the app: design, menus, settings and more
On the initial screen, Infinity shows us a beginning divided into three sections: Home, Popular and All. In “Home” we see a feed related to our interests and followings. On the other hand, the “Popular” tab shows us the most popular threads at the moment, regardless of which subreddits they belong to. Finally, the “All” part displays the themes without filters, we can apply them ourselves by pressing the “Sort by” button. In the upper right part we see a magnifying glass button, as usual, it helps us to do a personalized search.
A basic element of the design language by which the application is guided is the side menu, this one has a multitude of accesses to the different parts of the application. The first thing that appears is the configuration related to our personal account: we can modify our user profile, our subscriptions or check the inbox in case we have received an interaction.
On this board, We will have two different sections: notifications and messages. Notifications show the responses that other users make to us in public topics while the second section shows private messages and their conversations.
Going back to the cluttered side menu, some options that stand out are NSFW mode (for hiding sensitive information in public places, like work) and a shortcut to change app theme, available in dark and light mode. If we continue to drag the menu, it ends with two sections that agglomerate our subscriptions, to access them with a few touches.
In the left image, the side menu full of options. On the right, the different designs to customize the flow.
Upon entering any thread, the Infinity Reader appears with a clean layout. The initial message and the replies are read without problem and there are no other elements that interfere with the reading process. On the left side of the messages we find a vertical colored indicator that indicates the level of the response, this way they will not be mixed up and we will be able to better understand the conversation.
Continuing with the reader, To participate, it’s as simple as clicking on the “Add a comment” button at the top right. Then the app shows us the text field where to reply. Infinity also allows you to save a post to read later, this option is in the button with the three dots, next to the comment button. From there, it is possible to hide posts in the same way.
We finally go to config section. This counts as the rest of the application, with a higher level of depth. We have the option to enable notifications as well as the recharge interval. Regarding the interface and design, we can configure even the smallest detail, for example, the font used on each site. When entering the theme setting, we see that the application follows the default system configuration, but we can force one of the two versions.
In Infinity we can change the text font. It also has a very deep setup.
Infinity accepts downloads from Reddit, so these are adjustable, being able to choose the placement of images, GIFs and videos. A change that I recommend making is in the section called “Miscellaneous”, in which the application gives us the possibility of loading links with an external browser (the one we usually use).
As we have seen, Customizing your visit to Reddit couldn’t be easier with Infinity. You can download and try the app on its GitHub or the Google Play Store. Needless to say, it’s free and gets better with every update. If you were looking for a new window to view Reddit, this is a good alternative.
