Google’s hardware event left us with a Pixel 7, a Pixel 7 Pro, a Pixel Watch that we won’t be able to buy in Europe, and a Pixel Tablet that will arrive next year. As usual, this hardware comes with a great importance of software and the Google Assistant.
Google shared wizard news which will come to their new products in terms of dictation, call screening, widgets and more. These are exclusive functions for the Pixel, although there is always the possibility that they will reach the rest of the terminals later.
Better typing with voice (and with emojis)
On Android phones, it’s been possible to use voice dictation in Gboard for a long time, but like so many other things, the feature is improving on Google Pixels with the great help of the assistant. East assisted writing is now available in Spanishin addition to Italian, French and English.
Dictated messages can get a bit robotic, but typing through the assistant will start to suggest emojis to add to the message. You can add them with a simple touch, or also with your voice, repeating the name suggested by the keyboard bar.
Best recording and novelties in Duplex
Google has also improved the way Assistant can answer calls for us. On the Google Pixel 7, it is now possible to say “Mute” to mute a call and without having to say Hey Google first, when added as a new quick phrase. In addition, Direct my call
On the other hand, Google’s voice recording app will add labels to differentiate people participating in the conversation in the transcript of the call. It’s not yet available, but will come “later”.
Widget with more relevant information
the widget Looked (o In shortin English) is visible on both the home screen and the lock screen, and will begin to display more relevant contextual information
Google shows us some specific cases of information that will come to us in said widget, such as package tracking, if someone rings the Nest doorbell or on which carousel should we collect our luggage at the airport.
Other news
The news does not stop there. The Pixel Watch integrates with Google Assistant to perform actions such as sending messages, setting a timer, or controlling connected devices in the home.
The Pixel tablet for its part has not yet gone on sale, but Google has let us know that, in conjunction with a charging base with speakers, we can turn it into a kind of smart display and picture frame.
