Most Android phones come with Google Photos pre-installed, but a few years ago a gallery app was usually included instead. Those who prefer a traditional gallery application and not Google Photos will find a good alternative to Aves Galería, a open source and very complete gallery app.
Older folks around will remember QuickPic as a full-featured gallery app that was also very lightweight. Birds Gallery cannot be considered lightweight, but it has a lot of customization options and another advanced option that you won’t find in most gallery apps
A very complete gallery application
Finding a good gallery app is not easy because some of them are too simple, some have ads or just you cannot configure them to your needs. The same may not happen to you with Aves Galería, a photo gallery app for Android with a good number of options and functions.
The app is relatively easy to use, with an interface separated into four main categories: photos, videos, favorites and albums. This way you can keep your favorite photos and videos always at your fingertips after tapping the heart icon on a photo, whether they are recent or not and in which album they are.
The app is not Google Photos, although it does let you search with various advanced filters
One of the main advantages of Aves Galería is that it’s very customizable, being able, for example, to configure the buttons that you want to appear superimposed on the photo viewer for quick access, being able to choose from a very complete list. You can also choose to have the brightness of the mobile set to the maximum when viewing the photos, to be able to appreciate them in all their glory, among many other parameters.
Aves Galería can open all kinds of images and videos, including somewhat less common formats in this type of application, such as multi-page TIFF, SVG, AVI videos or panoramic videos. Birds Gallery is not a light gallery application in the style of classic expression (it occupies about 36 MB) but it is very complete and, in addition, free and open source. If you are looking for a gallery app, this is an option to consider.
