It was a month ago that the Apple Vision Pro was presented in Cupertino, a mixed reality headset that surprised us all both for its features and for its price of $3,500. However, today we have not come to talk about money, but about how difficult it will be for the average user to buy them. Not just because of what they cost – but also – but because of how the whole process will go, according to a late-breaking leak.
Good luck trying them on the Apple Store.
According to famous Bloomberg leaker Mark Gurman, Apple is planning an experiment to test the Vision Pro in a store where users will need to make an appointment. The journalist explains that it will be a very complex logistical exercise, since it will require a large number of workers who will be dedicated exclusively to it, as well as several units of the product, accessories, a special area in the store, and even more.
The idea is that since it is such a complex product, it must be specifically tailored to each user who tries it. In addition, its learning curve is quite large, so there must be at least one apple employee with them who knows how it works be able to explain it well to the client and that the test is of some use.
Expected to arrive in major US stores in 2024, expanding to the rest of the country and the UK and Canada by the end of the year and in 2025 to other regions. There will surely be a queue – and not a few – to try them. We’ll have to be careful when he leaves, because we wouldn’t be very surprised if he takes a long time to get an appointment.
Want to take a look at the Apple Vision Pro? You will need a CT scan, vision analysis and prior appointment
According to the report, before you can try this helmet, you will have to go through two different processes. A first in which your head will be scanned to adjust the product so that it fits you like a glove, and a second in which they will analyze your vision in case they had to choose a special lens so that you can see everything well.
For that, Apple would develop an application, which we understand you will need to download and use when requesting an appointment online. If I didn’t know what was going on I would think I was calling my doctor’s trick, but no, it’s the Vision Pro. They’re also still working on a top strap to better distribute the weight.
We still don’t know when they will arrive in USA, but since the last thing leaked, very late. Maybe never, in fact. Taking into account that its cheap alternative will be released in 2025 and that the Vision Pro should not land in Europe before this same year, it would not be excluded that they do it directly with this second more accessible model and which the European public would probably appreciate. In any case, these are just rumors, and there is still no official announcement from Apple about them, beyond the fact that they will be launched in the United States in early 2024.
