Apple’s car navigation system continues to grow in popularity, CarPlay is suitable for more cars and users continue to enjoy all the benefits of this service.
Until a few days ago, more than 600 models with this Apple system were considered. However, the list was updated after Apple unveiled new 2023 and 2024 cars that would adapt this system, reaching the stunning new figure of more than 800 car models sold in the United States that have CarPlay
Apple reacts to the release of CarPlay in GM electric vehicles
This update on the Apple site has been given due to the announcement of the car manufacturer GM, which has announced its intention to gradually do without CarPlay in their car. Indeed, the company is developing its own system in association with Google to natively replace that of Apple.
This new system would have the advantage of offering a “greatly improved navigation and charging experience for future EV owners”. In other words, GM envisions this “holistically integrated” operating system to not only replace CarPlay but also move on.
Apple was quick to respond to this plan by updating its list of CarPlay-compatible car models, proving and confirming what the company mentioned at WWDC last year, “79% of US buyers would not consider than a vehicle that works with CarPlay,” and said that its system is now available on 98% of vehicles sold in the United States
CarPlay is already waiting to be updated with all the news that may come in 2023. It is said that it will allow you to pay for gas from the car screen and will add multi-screen support among other nice surprises.
