This Eminem Voice Isn’t Real: David Guetta Uses Artificial Intelligence At A Concert And Ruins It

We’re still debating whether images created with artificial intelligence can be considered art, and now comes another storyline twist: is it ethical and legal to use AI to generate voices? artists?

[Las IA para crear imágenes han roto el mercado y ahora les llueven las demandas]

There are already artificial intelligence projects capable of cloning the voice of any person, simply by uploading a few samples with a relatively good recording quality. Perhaps it was inevitable that someone would use this technology for music creation, and that’s exactly what David Guetta did at a recent gig.

David Guetta uses AI in a session

The video that Guetta posted on YouTube and social media does not seem striking at first glance; it was recorded during a session with an audience of the DJ and producer. The theme begins with an easily recognizable voice, that of rapper Eminem; however, neither the lyrics nor the voice itself are real.

Guetta explained that he used artificial intelligence to generate both the words and the voice, using publicly available tools. All he had to do was ask the AI to write “an Eminem-esque verse about a future rave”; he then fed the result into an AI capable of recreating anyone’s voice. Although Guetta does not specify which pages he used, the way he describes them is consistent with projects like ChatGPT or Eleven Labs.

Although Guetta tried to downplay the matter, saying it was all “just a joke”, the video drew mixed feelings on social media, not least because it doesn’t look like eminem gave permission to use your voice in this way. Although the public seems to react thinking that the rapper collaborated with Guetta, in reality this was not the case.

If anyone can recreate the voice of a famous singer and use it in their songs, it can open the door to all kinds of abuse, not to mention the artists wouldn’t get a single penny for those creations. This may be why Guetta specified in the title of the video that he will not market this creation and therefore will not make any money from it.

Of course, DJs are used to using portions of different songs in their “remixes”, and we might interpret that as not being much different.
