We review everything we saw at the first Apple event of 2022, many surprises await us.
After many weeks of rumors, Apple finally announced its first event of 2022 less than a week in advance, something that is becoming commonplace since we have virtual and unattended events. The Apple’s spring events are quite difficult to predictsince the company can present us with almost anything.
On this occasion, we are very clear on two devices, but we know little about the rest of the event. Nevertheless, let’s review what the company could feature on next March 8.
What will Apple present at its “Peek Performance” event on March 8?
For weeks we heard rumors from different sources, so we can more or less be clear about what Apple will present at its event. However, many surprises could appear that we haven’t heard of. For the record, here’s what the company showcased at previous spring events:
- April 2021: Apple introduced the new colorful 24-inch iMacs, iPad Pro, purple iPhone 12, Apple TV 4K, and AirTags.
- March 2020 – Apple introduced the iPad Pro 4 and iPhone SE 2.
- March 2019: Apple is hosting a different event, showcasing new services Apple TV+, Apple News, Apple Arcade, Apple Card and Apple Pay.
iPhone SE 5G
We’ll see a new iPhone SE at Apple’s spring event, although more than new it could almost be considered a current model update. Normally, Apple updates the iPhone SE every 4 years, changing the design and taking advantage of an old one, but it seems that this time it won’t be like that.
The third generation of the iPhone SE will keep its same design, that of the iPhone 8 with the frames and the Touch ID button. The changes will be inside, with the arrival of the chip A15 Bionic and 5G connectivity. One of the few doubts we have left is whether its price will drop or stay.
ipad air
Another of the devices confirmed for Apple’s “Peek Performance” event is the iPad Air, which will be updated with some features from the recently introduced iPad mini. It is expected that Apple keeps the external design of the iPad Airalthough colors may still change.
The new iPad Air of 2022 will integrate the A15 Bionic chip of the iPhone 13, will have a new 12-megapixel front camera and wide angle with Center Framing and a True Tone LED flash
iOS 15.4 release date
iOS 15.4 has already reached its fifth beta version and it is likely that after the event, Apple will release the “Release Candidate” version and confirm when the final version of the system will reach all users. Most likely a week after the event, the March 14 or 15.
The M2 chip and new Macs that include it
It is also possible that Apple will introduce us to its new generation of Apple Silicon chips. the hypothesis M2 chip It will improve the performance and efficiency of the M1 and will be integrated into a new range of enterprise devices. It’s all but confirmed that the M2 will come to the Mac mini, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and iPad Pro, but we don’t know which of these devices we’ll see in this event.
Rumors say that the first Apple computer to integrate the M2 chip will be a new macbook pro which would benefit from the same current design. However, it’s likely that Apple will introduce it to other devices, such as the iMac, as it would be relatively easy to do so.
A new iMac Pro
A popular device that should arrive in 2022, and this may be the ideal event to present it. This iMac would have the new extremely thin design of the current one but will have a larger format of 27 inchesin addition to incorporating the chips M1 Pro and M2 Max of the MacBook Pro.
We don’t know if Apple will show it off at this event or save it for later, but it’s definitely one of the most anticipated Macs of the year.
New covers and straps in spring colors
Apple renews the color of its bracelets and covers every season and in the spring we will surely see one updated color range of the most popular bands for Apple Watch and iPhone cases. In fact, we’ve seen leaks about it before. It’s something that won’t be mentioned in the event, but that we’ll see in the Apple Store once it’s finished.
