The downside of having lots of storage space is that it’s easier to accidentally lose files. In which file did you keep this important document? This is a problem that occurs even in cloud services like Google Drive.

Now it will be easier to find files in Google Drive, thanks to new interface changes that are not only visual, but also functional.
New, easier to use Google Drive
The new Google Drive is based on Material You, the style already used in Android and some apps. Therefore, we can forget Drive’s monochrome style, for something more similar to what other Google apps use. Concretely, it looks a lot like Gmail, which will make it easier to distinguish between the different elements of the interface.
Basically, Google Drive does not change anything at all. The service remains the same and the changes are only visual, with one exception: the new search options. Like other Google applications, Drive now has selectors under the search bar that will allow us to refine the characteristics of the files we are looking for.
The three new options allow us to choose the type of file (such as document, presentation, images, videos, etc.), the creators or users who participated in the creation of this document, and the date on which it was modified or created.
By simply changing these options, the files displayed will change in real time, which should make searching easier. In fact, we might not even need to type anything into the search bar.
These new things are already coming, first for Google Workspace users and then for the rest, although the new Material You design is already available for conventional users.
