They can see how much the Ceramic Shield offered by the iPhone 16 Pro has been improved!
The iPhone 16 Pro has just faced one of the most demanding and difficult physical tests to be seen, even if it is someone else’s smartphone. Every year, the device that Apple carefully develops goes through a drop test that seeks to verify the accuracy of the resistance offered among its characteristics and especially if it is superior to that of the iPhone 15, which already enjoyed a good reputation.
Sam Kohl of the YouTube channel Apple Track managed to get the scoop. To do so, he traveled to Australia on the day iPhone shipments began and became the first to test the durability of the iPhone 16 Pro. But since a single drop test isn’t enough, hours later, From the YouTube channel TechRax, they created their own challenge.
iPhone 16 faces its toughest test yet
Apple Track tests subjected the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro to drops from a few meters high, as can be seen in the video posted below.
Testing revealed a possible weak point in the device’s design: the bezels. While Apple’s Ceramic Shield glass has proven superior to previous versions, The iPhone 16 Pro’s thinner bezels appear to make the screen more vulnerable be damaged if dropped on its side.
When the iPhone 16 Pro receives a corner impact, The display panel suffers more significant damage compared to previous models like the iPhone 15 Pro. This suggests that while the screen itself can withstand direct hits, the thinner bezels don’t offer the same protection.
For his part, TechRax conducted even more extreme durability tests, subjecting the iPhone 16 Pro to hammer and knife blows. As expected, the device did not emerge unscathed from these tests.
The titanium edges were easily scratched and the screen shattered on direct impacts, with pieces breaking off at the back. The test and result can be seen in the following video
Apple introduced Ceramic Shield glass for the first time on the iPhone 12 displayensuring that it was a much stronger material than any of its competitors.
On the iPhone 16 Pro, the company assures that it is an improved Ceramic Shieldable to withstand drops and scratches 50% more than the iPhone 15, typical of daily use, and says nothing about the most extreme extreme conditions that this type of challenge usually offers.
In Apple Track and TechRax tests, the iPhone 16 Pro was found to be damaged, whether there were many or few, perhaps this requires a personal assessment, but the truth is that It proved to be more durable than the iPhone 15 Pro.
