Android has always been very customizable, but if you wanted to change everything, the magic word was root. Without root, we are very limited in what we can or cannot tinker with in the system, but that doesn’t mean we have to sit idly by. Customization without root is possible and we have proof of that in Shizuku.
Shizuku is an application through which we can grant special permissions without root, which other applications can take advantage of to do things for which they previously needed root. When it was released it was more of a proof of concept, but over time more and more personalization apps have adopted it, allowing us to do changes we would have needed root for before.
Shizuku as a root substitute
If you are an advanced user, surely you have come across an application that asks you to use an ADB command to grant you permissions promotions. For example, it is necessary in applications to change the mobile language to a language that does not come in the settings.
Connecting and using ADB can be a bit of an odyssey (especially if you don’t have a PC handy, using alternatives like LADB) and that’s where Shizuku comes in. Shizuku serves as an alternative to the root for apps that used root to run ADB commands. It’s easy to install and configure, and once it’s up and running, it has an easy way to grant permissions, just like Android runtime permissions.
Over time, apps started popping up that let you use Shizuku as an alternative to root, because there’s no denying that root is in a bit of a doldrums. These are Five changes you can make on your mobile taking advantage of Shizuku’s superpowers.
Have the “ringtone” of the Pixel

Google Pixel mobiles have an intelligent system thanks to which they can recognize the music playing and display it on the lock screen. It is called, with good judgment, “It rings”.
AmbientMusicMod is an application that bring the google pixel ringtone to any mobile with Android 12, whether you have root or not. If you don’t have it, you can use Shizuku to have a unique Pixel novelty on your non-Pixel phone.
Disable high volume warning

The opinion that you turned up the volume too much This is in many cases something like the cookie notice: yes, you already know that, but you don’t care. The good news is that you may be able to disable it without root with System UI Tuner.
This application offers us all-in-one customization with all kinds of settings for the mobile that you can perform without root, including disable volume warning. Not all settings will work on all mobiles, yes, it depends on the Android layer.
Remove “insufficient space” warning

Another interesting tweak you can do on Android mobile without root but with Shizuku is turn off insufficient space warning or at least change the setting of when it will be displayed.
This option is in the same application as before, System UI Tuner, and what it allows you is to choose the percentage of free space from which the warning starts.
Change Material You colors

Android 12 brought us Material You, which colors the system and apps supporting dynamic color themes with the color scheme taken from the mobile wallpaper. If you don’t like the colors coming outyou can modify them with Repainter.
With Repainter you can customize Material You colors on Android 12 and above. It works best with root, all things considered, but you can access some of its features just by giving it permission through Shizuku.
Change your carrier name

Finally, one more tweak for wandering around the house that somehow brings us back a bit of nostalgia for Android from its early years: change carrier name for any other you invent.
You can do this with CarrierVanityName, a small app that Shizuku uses to rename your carrier to whatever you want. The best is that the name is kept even after reboot the cellphone.
