Apple fans eagerly awaiting the company’s entry into the foldable mobile market will have to wait a little longer, at least that’s what a display analyst with impressive correct prediction experience assures us. .
Ross Young, who at the time of this writing has a 100% Accuracy Score on AppleTrack (based on just 9 predictions), posted a summary of what he hopes is the 10 most important display news from 2022. And he emphasizes that Apple’s downturn “is not expected before 2023 at the earliest, 2024 being more likely”.
Coming from a source with Young’s credentials, this will be a huge disappointment to potential buyers.
In true Apple style, the company has stayed away from the folding market, surely devising its strategy and biding its time like it has done before with other products such as connected watches or 5G mobiles.
But there was hope that the first foldable iPhone would be close enough. Last year, we learned that Apple was in the prototype phase and had already ordered a large number of foldable displays. Earlier this year, various reports suggested that LG had made a commitment to making these displays for the final product.
Looking at it on the bright side, we could say that no one wants a foldable iPhone and Apple had better focus on other areas of the mobile phone business.
