This week is the Google for Games Developer Summit and Google took the opportunity to announce a series of gaming related newsboth on Google Play for mobile phones and on Google Play Games for Windows and the Google Play Games platform.
In addition to announcing the arrival of Play Points and Play Pass in more countries, Google announced new benefits for Play Pass subscription, changes to game lists on Google Playmore games available for Windows and new ways to log in and keep saved games.
More Play Pass benefits
Signing up for Google Play Pass, Android’s Apple Arcade, has an added benefit. In addition to having a series of open bar and ad-free applications and games, Play Pass subscribers will now receive gifts and discounts.
These discounts and gifts on in-app purchases are coming from now on the same for games like FC Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, MONOPOLY GO! or Roblox. Additionally, Play Pass will launch in South Korea this year.
YouTube videos of your favorite games
Another change, which we will more or less like, is that Google Play will show us YouTube videos
Another somewhat controversial change is related to advertisements in the games themselves via AdMob. Google says that instead of having pop-ups or video cuts during a game, you can interact with in-app ads or continue playing.
More ways to connect
Game developers using Google Play Game Services now have an easier time using their preferred method of connectionin addition to making it easy to synchronize saved games and achievements, regardless of device.
More games for Windows
Finally, Google assures that it will extend support for Google Play Games for Windows for include native PC games and not just Android games that run on Windows.
Currently Google Play already includes some native games for Windows, like Lineage2M, but they are more the exception than the rule. Apparently we’ll see more examples soon.
