Apple has just surprised us all and just released the first beta version of iOS 18.2 just days after the release of iOS 18.1 RC. This confirms that iOS 18.1 will officially reach all users next week and that the company continues to work at full speed to develop iOS 18 improvements.

In iOS 18.2 many improvements and new features were expected and it looks like they are going to come true. Many Apple Intelligence features that are not available in iOS 18.1 are in iOS 18.2 beta 1. An update that, at the moment, is only available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16.

What’s new in iOS 18.2

In iOS 18.2, the main improvements focus on Apple Intelligence. There are many Apple AI features that were not yet available and will arrive with this update which should be released before the end of the year. Here are the main new features of iOS 18.2 beta 1:

• More regions for Apple Intelligence: iOS 18.2 will bring Apple Intelligence to more English-speaking countries outside the United States. Apple confirms that it will be available in English in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
• Image Playground and Genmoji– These two Apple Intelligence features that allow you to generate images and emojis based on a description are now available in iOS 18.2.
• ChatGPT integration in Siri: Siri can use ChatGPT for certain queries, provided the user allows it. If Siri cannot provide an answer to a query, Siri will use ChatGPT to provide a correct answer.
• visual intelligence– iPhone 16 users have access to Visual Intelligence, a feature that provides information about what is around them. If you open the camera and point it at a restaurant, for example, you’ll see opening hours and reviews.
• Picture wand– An Image Playground related feature available in the Notes app on iPad. It allows us to generate an image of a sketch that we have drawn with the Apple Pencil or to circle an empty space or a key phrase to generate an appropriate image.

How to update to iOS 18.2 beta 2

Note that this beta is optional for saurians and that it appears in the lower area of ​​the software update settings. This is an early beta release, so some errors may be found. Furthermore, at present, Only compatible with Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhones. Nevertheless, you can install iOS 18.2 beta on iPhone by following these steps:

1. Sync your Apple ID with the Apple Beta Developer Program.
2. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
3. Go to the General section.

5. Wait a few seconds and click Beta Updates.
6. Select iOS 18.1 Developer Beta.
7. Go back and you can now download and install the iOS 18.2 beta.
